Happy Camp

My niece Jessica invited us to go to a 4-H Camp that she was in charge of in Jackson Hole, WY. It was called a family camp, but we lovingly referred to it as "Happy Camp". And guess what the theme was? One Happy Camper! This is us playing some get-to-know-you games.
Michael and Kenny represented our family in a game called "The Old Family Game" (instead of the newlywed game). Our team won! Woo Hoo!

G-ma kicked some butt at the Ping Pong tournament.

After she beat everyone at ping pong, she did a happy dance.

Service projects are fun to do, fun to do, fun to do......

Our family was in charge of the archery rotation. The guys taught it, and we just tried it out for fun.

Craft time! We made bug jars, how cute!

Our home away from home for 3 nights. It wasn't so bad, the spiders and wasps seemed only a little bit angry when we moved in!

We visited the Grand Teton National Park on our free day. And we learned that we can spell things with our bodies.

More craziness in the Tetons.

Beautiful Jenny Lake.

We went to see the Bar J Wranglers on Friday night. They were really funny, and great entertainers as well!

Michael and Jaron went looking for the ugliest shirts in all of Jackson Hole. I think they succeeded!

Saturday morning and time to go home! Left to right: Bryce, Jessica, Jaron Michael, Devin, David, Linda, Karl, Danny, Nikki, Debbie, Kenny, and Kenny's new girlfriend, Abby.

After cleaning the cabin (thanks Nikki!), we had a piggy back race. It is still up for debate who won, let's just say it was a close call between the two RM's and their mammas! Happy camp was great fun, and a wonderful bonding experience for us as a family! We came away with some new friends, good memories, lots of mosquito bites, and a whole new appreciation for our comfy beds!

It's a show about a pig and love and other good stuff

Jaron was in the Clearfield City production of "State Fair". He played the part of the farmer who falls in love with a singer played by Brittany Salazar. It was a great show, and everyone involved did an excellent job.
This is when he gets drunk after finding out his new love is married.

I am so proud of Jaron for all the hard work he puts into every show he does. He always does his very best and gives 110%. I can't wait to see what he does this fall when he is at Weber State. Good luck Jaron, and break a leg! (But not really, because that would hurt really bad!!)

The Proposal

We spent the weekend of the 4th at Flaming Gorge, as we usually do, only this year we had a little bit more excitement than usual. My nephew Kenny was planning to propose to his girlfriend, Megan, while we were there. He let us be in on the big moment, and it was so much fun! On Friday afternoon, Kenny took Megan for a walk while we all got ready. We took a card table, tablecloth, chairs, candles, a single rose and some chocolates and headed out to their "Special Spot", a cliff overlooking the lake, to get set up. Then we hid in the trees and waited for them to arrive. It took what seemed like a long time for them to finally get there, but they finally came and sat down at the table. When Kenny gave us the signal, we all came out of hiding and sang the song "I wanna grow old with you". It worked out well, because she said yes, and it was pretty cool that we were all there as a family to witness this momentous occasion. In my hurry to pack for our trip, I forgot to pack my camera, so I didn't get any pictures of this happy day! I know! I am so mad at myself! But my sister got some awesome ones, so I will have to get copies from her. But it was great to be a part of this special occasion in their lives, and I only hope when my boys get engaged they will want all of us there! Here are the words to the song, just in case you don't know it. They are very fitting.

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad,
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad,
Oh all I wanna do is grow old with you.

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches,
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks,
Oh I could be the man to grow old with you.

I'll miss you, kiss you,
Give you my coat when you are cold.
Need you, feed you,
I'll even let you hold the remote control.

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink,
Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink,
Oh it could be so nice growing old with you.
I wanna grow old with you.
